The 2017 Buick Encore is a small SUV that ranks well in its class alongside the 2017 Mazda CX-3 and the 2017 Honda HR-V. It features a luxurious cabin with a long list of features and user-friendly technology.

The Encore provides seating for up to 5 people and comes as either a front-wheel or all-wheel drive. There are two engine choices depending on trim. The standard engine is a little underpowered at 138 horsepower which is why most people would want to upgrade to the 153 horsepower engine.

Being a small SUV the rear seats are a little narrow and may prove to be uncomfortable for larger adults. No changes have been made to the design for the 2017 model year although the infotainment system has been upgraded to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which are both standard on the base trim.

The 2017 Buick Enclave comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that’s paired with a 6-speed automatic transmision. It comes with front-wheel drive as standard and the option of going for all-wheel drive on the higher trims. The engine is able to deliver 288 horsepower, which isn’t particularly powerful for a mid-sized SUV.

The fuel economy of the Enclave is 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The Enclave suffers from having poor fuel economy and sluggish acceleration. Performance is adequate for its class but it does fall short of the leaders in this category.

On the road the Enclave is quiet and refined but will struggle when passing at high speeds. It’s able to two up to 4,500 lbs. which is lower than the class average of around 5,500 lbs. The Enclave has a wide turning radius which can make finding parking spaces a little tricky.

Overall the 2017 Buick Enclave is a decent highway cruiser with with an elegant and smooth ride for up to 8 people.

The interior of the Enclave is spacious and comes with adult-sized seating across all three rows of seats. Captain’s chairs come as standard in the second row of seats or you replace these with smaller seats to fit a maximum of 8 people.

Tri-zone automatic climate control comes as standard with heated seats, driver seat memory setting and leather upholstery available as upgradedes. The list of features is close to other SUVs such as the Chevrolet Tahoe but with a significantly reduced cost. It comes with a rearview camera, Bluetooth, USB port and satellite radio.

The 2017 Buick Enclave has a starting price of $39,065. It’s available as either FWD or AWD with FWD being standard. The AWD version is available from $46,690. There are three trims available, the Convenience, Leather and Premium with the Premium having a starting price of $48,550. All trims use the 3.6 liter V6 engine.

The 2017 Buick Enclave sits in the middle of midsized SUVs. Those at the top of the class include the 2017 Nissan Murano, the 2017 Kia Sorento and the 2017 Toyota Highlander.
