2017 Buick Verano
The 2017 Buick Verano is a compact car with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 180 horsepower. It has fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway which is a little worse than other compact cars on the market.
The Verano provides a smooth and quiet ride although the engine is underpowered. There is also no turbocharged engine available for the 2017 model of the Verano. Buick have reduced the number of trims available from 5 to 3.
The interior of the Verano looks nice and good quality cabin materials have been used. This is offsets by having a rather cluttered dashboard.
Buicks are generally not the sportiest cars on the market and the same is true for the Verano. It has a sophisticated and smooth ride but lacks the power and acceleration of other compact cars.
The 2017 Verano is only available with one powertrain, the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 180 horsepower. The 2017 model is missing the turbocharged engine that had impressive power gains compared to the base engine. For this reason the Verano is best left for city driving.
Not only does the Verano lack power but also suffers from poor fuel economy. Fuel economy estimates are 21 mpg for city driving and 31 mpg for the highway. Other cars in the class have much better economy, such as the Mazda3 which gets 28/37 mpg for city/hwy and the Chevrolet Cruze which gets up to 30/40 mpg for city/hwy driving.
The interior of the 2017 Buick Verano is put together with good quality materials with the option of upgrading to leather seating and a heated steering wheel. The front seats are quite comfortable for a compact car although there is less room in the rear. The amount of cargo space is 14.3 cu.ft. which is about average for the class.
A touch screen and infotainment system is available although some reviewers have complained that the dashboard is a little too cluttered. Some of the buttons don’t have a clear label as to their use.
The 2017 Buick Verano has a starting price of $21,065 for the base model. This is more expensive than many other compact cars. You can upgrade to the Sport Touring trim for $24,115 which adds a few comfort features such as heated front seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The top trim is the Leather trim which has a starting price of $26,555 and as you guessed it, includes leather seating.
The 2017 Buick Verano sits in the middle of the compact car class. It is more expensive than some of the top models which include the 2017 Mazda Mazda3, the 2017 Honda Civic and the 2017 Kia Soul.
