The 2017 Chevrolet Volt is an award winning car with a gas/electric engine that’s designed to save you money and make fewer stops throughout the week. It’s an extended range electric vehicle that won the Green Car of the Year award in 2016 and the Volt continues to impress.
The Volt has a battery range of up to 53 miles and Chevrolet have stated that the average driver will get over 1,000 miles before needing to fill up again. What’s unique about this new car is that it uses two electric motors that work in unison to continually charge and conserve electric power.
The Chevrolet Volt is a front wheel drive, five door hatchback that’s reasonably priced and comes in a range of colors. It uses a gas and electric engine with a capacity of 1.5 litres.
The 2017 Chevrolet Volt is a four cylinder, front wheel drive compact car with an electric and gas engine. it comes with a portable charge cord. The electric engine takes 13 hours to recharge with the standard 120-volt portable cord. It can be recharged much quicker, around 4.5 hours with the optional 240-volt charging system.
The Volt has 149 hp and 294 lb.-ft. torque. The fuel capacity is 8.9 gal. and it has a 1.5 liter engine. It has 4 inline cylinders and a 1-speed Direct Drive transmission. The Chevrolet Volt has a height of 4 ft 8 in. and a length of just over 15 ft. The turning circle is just over 36 ft.
The Volt comes with height adjustable driver and passenger seats. The Premier trim also features heated seating and leather seats. Rear seats are split-folding. As far as entertainment goes the Volt comes with a USB connection, satellite radio and six speakers in total.
Chevrolet have a pretty big focus on safety with this version of the Volt, installing a total of 10 air bags. The front air bags will inflate to a degree depending on the severity of the crash. The bigger the crash the more protection you have. This combined with the rear camera and optional collision alerts and distance indicators means you’ll feel pretty safe in the Volt. In the event of a crash all doors are unlocked and the fuel pump is shut of. OnStar advisors will also be called and given your location to see if you need assistance.
The Chevrolet Volt comes in the usual white and black but also metallic green, blue and siren red for those who like an extra dash of color.
The 2017 Chevrolet Volt is a compact vehicle that sits on the lower end of the price range for hybrid vehicles. The Volt comes with two trims, the LT and the Premier. Prices for the Volt LT start at $34,490 and the Premier is $38,840.
So what’s different about the LT and the Premier. The Premier comes with leather-appointed seats, parking assist and a Bose Premium Audio System. With the Premier trim you also have the option of installing the Driver Confidence Packages that include side blind alerts, forward collision alerts, lane keep assistance and following distance indicator.
