The 2017 Chrysler 300 is a large car with a powerful engine. It ranks around the middle of its class for performance, price, interior cabin quality and safety features. The 300 has seating for up to 5 people and comes with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Some of the good features of the Chrysler 300 are the roomy and high quality interior that will keep you comfortable even on long rides and the easy-to-use infotainment system. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which were optional in previous years, now comes as standard on the 2017 model of the Chrysler 300.

The 300 has a choice of two powerful engines ranging from 292 to 363 horsepower. They get fuel economy of 19/30 mpg for city/hwy for the smaller engine and 16/25 mpg for city/hwy for the more powerful engine. One of the let downs for the Chrysler 300 is the front seating which tends to be more uncomfortable than other rivals.

Performance

The Chrysler 300 comes with a 3.6 liter V6 engine as standard on the base model. It makes 292 horsepower which gives the 300 plenty of firepower off the starting line. The upgraded engine is the 5.7 liter Hemi V8 that makes 363 horsepower. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Both engines have very good acceleration and the transmission does a fairly decent job of making smooth transitions from gear to gear. Some reviewers have complained about the transmission saying that it takes too long to downshift and that may pause too long when making gear changes.

“The available 363-horsepower Hemi V8 delivers heart-stopping acceleration, although we’re still not thrilled with the way the 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission manages gear changes. It pauses too long in some cases and doesn’t downshift fast enough in others.”

Most people will be content with the V6 as there’s usually not a great need to accelerate any faster than that. The 300 handles pretty well on the road although lacks dynamic driving while going around corners. Rear-wheel drive is the standard option but you can upgrade to all-wheel drive for better grip and handling.

The infotainment system comes with an 8.4-inch touch screen that is easy to navigate and uses on-screen instructions. It uses large text and images and can integrate with your smartphone. As mentioned above Chrysler have now made Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard on all Chrysler 300 vehicles.
