2017-ford-mustang-reviewThe 2017 Ford Mustang is a powerful car with a choice of engines that make from 300 to 526 horsepower. It comes with rear-wheel drive and seats up to four people. There are no major changes for the 2017 model of the Mustang which already has a agile handling around corners and a smooth ride.

The interior of the 2017 Mustang looks very high end so you won’t be disappointed with interior comfort. The rear passengers will have to put up with smaller rear seats, however, the Mustang does get very good scores in crash test results.

The Ford Mustang seems very cheap for a sports car but you must realize you’ll be paying much more if you want to upgrade to the bigger engines. The base price for the Mustang coupe is $24,645. Upgrading to the convertible will cost an extra $5,500.

Specs

You’ll be spoilt for choice with the 2017 Ford Mustang as you have a range of 10 Mustang models to choose from! The base engine is the 3.7 liter V6 that delivers 300 hp. This is plenty of acceleration for most people and has average fuel economy of 18 mpg for the city and 27 mpg when driving on the highway.

For a little extra power and better fuel economy you can upgrade to the Mustang EcoBoost which has an extra 10 horsepower, for 310 hp in total, and gets 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

If you really want to turn your Mustang into the muscle car it deserves to be than you’ll want to upgrade to the 5.0 liter V8 that is able to generate 435 horsepower with over 400 lb. ft. of torque. This engine is available with the Mustang GT. While the fuel economy with this engine isn’t great it’s about what you’d expect for a V8 engine.

All models come with the 6-speed manual transmission as standard and you can choose to take the optional 6-speed automatic transmission instead. Reviewers say the gear shifts are smooth for both types of transmissions.

Interior

Even though the Ford Mustang is a muscle car it still comes with plenty of interior features for ease and comfort. For example two USB ports come as standard, as do the rearview camera, Bluetooth and track apps for recording your track times and showing other performance data.

The Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system is used on the 2017 Mustang which features the familiar swipe and pinch controls on the touchscreen that you may be used to from using smartphones.

The Mustang comes with some retro cabin features but Ford also makes sure everything is put together well with good quality materials. Most models of the Mustang have four seats although the Shelby GT350R only comes witw two. The rear seats in the other models are pretty cramped anyway so are probably only suitable for children who you want to bring along for the ride. The front seats on the Mustang are comfortable and visibility is quite good for a muscle car.

Price

As mentioned earlier the Ford Mustang comes in a range of 10 models to choose from. The base model, the V6 Fastback, has a starting price of $24,915. For an additional $1,000 you can upgrade to the EcoBoost Fastback for additional power and better fuel economy. The first convertible has a starting price of $30,415. Heading up to the top trim, the Shelby GT350R will cost you $62,070.

Alternatives

The 2017 Ford Mustang is one of the better sports cars available and comes with a range of options. If you’re looking for good alternatives you may want to have a look at the Mazda MX-5 or the Chevrolet Camaro.
