2017 Genesis G80 Review

The 2017 Genesis G80 is a luxury mid-sized car with a price starting from $41,400 to $54,550. It’s one of the better vehicles in its class and has an impressive list of safety features. It has a spacious cabin that’s both comfortable and quiet.

The G80 is available as either a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and comes with two engine choices, a 3.8-liter V6 with 311 horsepower or a 5-liter V8 with 420 horsepower.

The G80 has had its name changed for the 2017 model year. What was previously known as the Hyundai Genesis G80 is now simply the Genesis G80. It’s also had some extra safety features added for this version of the G80.

Performance

The 2017 Genesis G80 comes with a choice of two engines. The base engine is a 3.8-liter V6 that makes 311 horsepower. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with smooth gear changes. The more powerful engine is the 5.0-liter V8 that makes 420 horsepower. The V6 base engine is already pretty powerful so the upgrade isn’t really necessary unless you are determined to get that extra power.

Fuel economy in the G80 is quite poor. The base V6 engine gets 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Upgrading to the V8 will reduce fuel economy to 15/23 mpg for city/hwy driving.

The G80 feels refined on the road and while it’s not a sports model it does provide a magnificent experience, gliding over the roads surface effortlessly.
