The 911 is one of the best sports cars on the planet and has excellent handling with a choice of powerful engines up to 560 horsepower. It’s available in all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive and has very responsive steering and braking. This performance car also has a luxurious interior so you can drive in style. It has seating for 2 to 4 people although most people would only drive with a maximum of 2 people due to the smaller rear seats.

There are a few new 911 models for the 2016 year including the Targa GTS and the GT3 RS trims and the 911 is priced anywhere from $89,400 to $200,000 depending on engine and options.

Specs

The base Porsche 911 is the 911 Carrera that comes with a 3.4 liter 6-cylinder engine that delivers 350 horsepower and has 287 lb.ft of torque. It uses a 7-speed manual transmission as standard which can be changed to a 7-speed automatic if you wish. While fuel economy isn’t usually a primary concern for sports cars the Porsche 911 with the standard trim gets 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg while on the highway.

The base engine isn’t the only choice available and there are a range of more powerful engines to choose from. Next on the line up is the 3.8 liter 6-cylinder engine that makes 400 horsepower with 325 lb.ft of torque. This is used in the Carrera S models. The GT3 comes with a 3.8 liter 6-cylinder engine with 475 horsepower and 325 lb.ft of torque. The GT3 RS uses a same-sized 3.8 liter engine but it is able to generate 500 horsepower with 338 lb.ft of torque. The Turbo 911 models use the twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter 6-cylinder engines that makes 520 horsepower with 487 lb.ft of torque. Still not enough power for you? The top engine is used in the 911 Turbo S models and it is able to generate 560 horsepower with 516 lb.ft of torque.

Reving these powerful engines sounds amazing and they will deliver incredible acceleration. Some reviewers have mentioned that as the gears are spaced closely together it is easy to select the wrong way. Some prefer the automatic transmission which does have quick gear changes. The base model, the 911 Carrera has a top speed of 183 mph and acceleration from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. In comparison the top model, the 911 Turbo S, has a top track speed of 205 mph and acceleration of 0-60 in just 2.8 seconds!
