2016 Porsche Panamera
The 2016 Porsche Panamera is a super luxury sports car with a price tag from $100,000 to $260,000. It’s available as either all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive and has a lineup of engines up to 570 horsepower. Porsche are offering the Panamera in a dizzying array of trims, with 17 to choose from, including the Panamera S, Hybrid, GTS and Turbo.
The Porsche Panamera has extremely potent engines and sharp handling. The interior cabin looks excellent and the Panamera has a high reliability rating so you can expect it will handle whatever you can throw at it. There are no major changes for the 2016 version of the Panamera.
On the down side the Panamera has been criticised for having poor rear visibility. The rear window is quite small and the roof pillars wider than normal. The rear seats are also not the most comfortable as they are mounted low.
The base Panamera model uses a powerful 3.6 liter V6 engine that makes 310 hp and has 295 lb.ft. torque. It can reach speeds of up to 160 mph and has an acceleration of 6.0 seconds from 0-60 mph. The base model has fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
Upgrading to the 4S or the GTS you’ll be using a 6-cylinder 2.9 liter engine that makes 440 horsepower with 405 lb.ft. torque. It can reach 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 179 mph. At the top end the Panamera Turbo S Executive uses a 4.8 liter V8 engine that makes 570 horsepower. It has a top speed of 192 mph and acceleration from 0-60 of 3.7 seconds.
As you can see the Panamera is extremely quick and just gets quicker as you progress up to the top end models. The V8 models are quicker and sound better although all of the options have pretty good acceleration.
The interior of the Panamera is quite roomy, even the rear seats. There’s 15.7 cu.ft. of cargo space in the back and 40.7 cu.ft. of space with the rear seats down. The front seats are spacious and comfortable. While there’s plenty of space in the back the rear seats are fitted lower than usual which may make the rear passengers uncomfortable during longer rides.
One great thing about the Panamera is the level of customization. There are 17 trims to choose from and just about everything in the Panamera can be changed to suit your style. It comes with a 7-inch screen and a well-organized central layout for all of the controls.
The price for the 2016 Porsche Panamera begins at $78,000 and increases depending on your options and trim. The first hybrid version, the Panamera S E-Hybrid has a starting price of $93,200 and the GTS costs $113,400. If you want all the bells and whistles you can pick up the Panamera Exclusive Series for $263,900.
The Porsche Panamera isn’t the only super luxury car on the market. Some other alterntaives are the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the BMW 7-Series and the 2016 Audi A8.
