2016 Tesla Model X
The first thing you’ll notice about the 2016 Tesla Model X is the wings that fold up to allow passengers into the rear seats. It’s a luxury SUV with all-wheel drive and a range of around 289 miles. It uses the same engine as the Model S and has the same amazing acceleration off the line, making it the fastest SUV in its class.
The Tesla Model X seats up to 7 people in three rows of seats. It has super quick acceleration and a huge amount of torque on the low end. The high-tech features are all user friendly and the car handles well on the road. Tesla are providing free electric charge ups at their Super Charge stations throughout the country.
The 2016 Model X is all new for this year. It has a nice interior with plenty of space although the middle row of seats don’t fold flat. The falcon wing doors are certainly designed to get attention and makes it look more like a futuristic vehicle than a car. If you like the design the Model X is one of the best luxury SUVs you can buy.
The 2016 Tesla Model X has an electric engine and super fast acceleration. Ordinary gasoline engines take time to build up power but the Model X effortlessly glides into top speed. Electric engines have more torque at low speeds which is why accelerating in the Model X is such a joy.
While amazing acceleration is always handy to have the Model X is also powerful enough to tow up to 5,000 pounds. You’ll need to upgrade to the $750 towing package though. The Model X is pretty heavy with its electric battery and has a curb weight of around 5,000 pounds. While it is heavy it doesn’t feel like it when driving on the road. The Model X is suprisingly athletic and feels light around when cornering. It’s more agile than most SUVs and has responsive brakes and steering.
Charging the Tesla Model X takes time and its the price you have to pay for such a brilliant car. You can charge at any of the Tesla SuperCharging stations located around the country for free. It only takes about 30 minutes to charge to 80% capacity at one of those stations, as opposed to hours at home.
The standout feature of the 2016 Tesla Model X is the falcon wings on the side which open upwards instead of outwards. This makes it easier for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle. Tesla opted for the falcon wings rather than a sliding door to make it look more futuristic and less like an old minivan.
The falcon wings only need an extra one foot of space above the car when opened due to their unique design. Amazingly they’re able to sense when objects are near to the car and change the angle at which they open.
A third row is available in the Model X although this will cost you an extra $4,000. All seats have good head clearance, even the third row which can seat adults up to 6 feet tall.
The center of the dashboard features the 17-inch touch screen which is where most of the controls of the car are located. This clears up the center stack from numerous buttons and knobs. The screen can be easily seen from almost any viewing angle. The front windshield is massive and is the largest in production.
The price for the 2016 Tesla Model X is $61,100 for the 60D with the 60 kWh battery and range of around 200 miles. The top performing Model X has a price tag of $135,500 and a range of 289 miles. It uses a 100 kWh battery and can reach 0 – 60 in 2.9 seconds.
The 2016 Tesla Model X is one of the most sophisticated luxury SUVs on the market. Some other makes you may want to have a look at are the 2017 Audi Q7, 2016 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid and the 2016 Lexus RX Hybrid.
