Last Tuesday thieves broke into the Jaguar Land Rover facility and stole over $3.7 million worth of Jaguar engines. This is not the first time thieves have broken into the factory. The last time over $1.2 million worth of engines were stolen and 5 people were convicted of the crime.
Jaguar have had a tough time protecting their engines. It’s reported that thieves drove up to the factory in a semi-trailer, loaded it full of engines and then drove off. They came back for a second load later in the night. Local police are currently on the lookout for the thieves. The trailers have been found but there is no sign of the engines or the criminals.
A representative from Jaguar has released a statement saying “We can confirm that we are working closely with West Midlands Police to investigate the theft of engines from the Solihull manufacturing plant. A reward is on offer to anyone who has information which leads to the successful recovery of these engines. It would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment whilst this investigation is ongoing.”
At the moment there is no information on the exact type of engines that were stolen or whether this will affect delivery of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. If you have any information contact the local police for a reward.
